What are market conduct reports?
State insurance agencies or departments examine the market conduct of insurance companies to ensure the companies are complying with state law. These exams are designed to review a company’s practices in areas such as marketing, advertising, policyholder services, underwriting, rating, and claims.
Market conduct reports document the findings of these examinations and summarize actions to be taken by insurers to correct alleged noncompliant practices. They may identify the size of the policy sample or claim sample reviewed and indicate alleged violations of the law discovered during the examination. They may also summarize the actions taken by insurers to correct the alleged non-compliant practices.
How do I retrieve market conduct reports?
To retrieve market conduct reports, click Insurance at the top of any page and choose Accident and Health, Life and Annuities, or Property and Casualty. Then click the Market Conduct tab and search using the template. For example, to retrieve market conduct reports from Connecticut that concern Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Company, follow these steps:
In the Company Name text box, type "liberty mutual".
Under Jurisdiction Selection, select the CT check box.
Click Search.
