About the TOC Center

The TOC Center allows you to browse the table of contents for publications such as the United States Code Annotated (USCA) and the Code of Federal Regulations, as well as state statutes and other materials; view a document in the context of the sections surrounding it; and quickly retrieve related sections.

Accessing the TOC Center

To access the TOC Center, click TOC Center at the top of any page. Click the plus (+) and minus () symbols to browse the available tables of contents. To view the table of contents for a publication, click its link.

Browsing a Table of Contents

You can browse a table of contents by clicking the plus and minus symbols or by selecting the appropriate check boxes and clicking Expand Selections(s) at the bottom of the Table of Contents page. The portion of the table of contents you selected will be expanded. (To collapse the entire table of contents, click Collapse All.) To retrieve a specific section in the table of contents, click its link.

The table of contents for the USCA or California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, or Texas statutes can be displayed as it existed on a particular date. To do so, access the appropriate table of contents. Then type a date in the Effective Date text box or click the Calendar icon to select a date and click Go. The table of contents as it existed on the date you selected is displayed.

Retrieving Multiple Sections or Entire Titles, Chapters, Parts, or Subparts

You can retrieve multiple sections or entire titles, parts, subparts, chapters, or subchapters. Select the check boxes next to the sections, titles, parts, subparts, chapters, or subchapters you want to retrieve. Then do one of the following:
